Don't get caught unprepared for the troubles associated with

                                                              the cold temperatures of winter.

You can help prevent many plumbing problems by performing a few                                                        routine maintenance tasks before the first autumn freeze hits.

                                              Consider the following tips:

  • Disconnect Outside Water Hoses.  If left connected during the winter, any water inside the hose can freeze and expand causing faucets and connecting pipes inside your home to freeze and possibly burst.

  • Turn off Water To Hose Bib.  Make sure all outdoor faucets are free of leaks and drips. If you find leaks we suggest you consider installing a non-freeze hose bib before cold temperatures arrive. It's also critical to turn off the interior valve for outdoor faucets (usually found in the basement) and loosen "bleeder" on side of valve.

  • Take Precautions When You Leave For Vacation.  If you plan to be away from your home for a week or longer, turn off your water at the main water valve and drain the system by opening faucets at the highest and lowest points of the house.

Often home owners overlook the importance of fall plumbing maintenance. We urge you to take time now to help avoid aggravating and costly problems that can arise when temperatures get really cold.
